I want to start off by saying how surprised I was at just how dark and grim this Batman film is. At the start I did find the film to go slowly but then as the film progressed it did start to pick up pace. By the end I didn’t want it to finish and was disappointed once it did. I think that the casting in this is superb. Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz and Colin Farrell especially. I have to say that all the way through watching this I did not even realize that it was Colin Farrell as he looked so different. Apparently, he has stated that he went to Starbucks to try out his prosthetics and makeup for the Penguin for the first time. Although nobody recognized him despite getting a couple of stares from people. I think that Robert Pattinson has made some very brave decisions in his acting career. This definitely wasn’t an easy role for him but I thought he did an amazing job. For his role he dyed his hair dark brunette. In this he was more like he was in The Twilight Saga (2008-2012) films. I also thought that Paul Dano was brilliant and think he is such a talented actor. I really enjoyed seeing Andy Serkis although I did think he was very much underused. I don’t think I have ever seen a film where they have used so much rain. I thought that the cinematography was amazing. The sound and the music are very important in this film. There are excellent visual effects but they do not take over the film. The movie’s working title for this was Vengeance. Before going in I was slightly worried about it being 3 hours but I have to say that I didn’t notice the time going. Like so many films this was originally scheduled to be released on June 25th, 2021. Due to the impact of COVID-19, production was then halted and the release pushed to October 1st, 2021. On October 5th, 2020 Warner Bros. then decided to delay the film to March 4th, 2022. I have to say it was well worth the wait. The themes of this film are the father son relationship and the pain of being an orphan. The film also deals with big issues like crime and political corruption.
