This is a French film and the original title for this is L’avenir. Isabelle Huppert is the central character in this and she is brilliant. Her character is so convincing that you believe in what she is going through. I found it all so engaging. They couldn’t have done this film without her. It was brilliantly directed and the script was well written. It is all so typically French. The director has based this film on her own mother’s life and asked her to approve the script before she began filming. The film is intelligent and moving on both accounts.
I loved this film. I was the only person in the film theatre when I watched it. Maybe that added to the sense of intimacy that I felt. It definitely draws you into the world of the main character. I liked the subtlety in the closing scenes.
