Review: A young woman seeks help from her Grandma after she becomes pregnant and needs money for an abortion.
Director: Paul Weitz
Actors: Lily Tomlin, Julia Garner and Marcia Gay Harden
Genre: Comedy and Drama
I found all the characters to be open minded. They all said what they were feeling. It is a film about bonding. The granddaughter being estranged and then going to her grandmother for help. They didn’t really know each other before hand. The script was very well written and funny at times. A fine performance indeed from Lily Tomlin who makes the role look so easy. I love the director and he has done some fantastic films such as About A Boy (2002). The cinematography is amazing and really captures the atmosphere. The car that is used is a 1955 Dodge Royal and is actually owned by Lily Tomlin. The director Paul Weitz actually wrote the part for Lily Tomlin. This film did remind me of the film Juno (2007). I keep wanting to call this film “bad grandma”. I just wonder how many other people have found themselves in this sort of situation.
