PITCH PERFECT 2
Review: The capella singing group known as the Bellas are back after three years. The last film saw them perform not so well at The Kennedy Center. This second film watches them try and win the World Championships of A Cappella in Copenhagen.
Director: Elizabeth Banks
Actors: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld and Brittany Snow
Genre: Comedy, Drama and Musical
Did we really need another Pitch Perfect film as the last one was so good? Disappointing sequel. It has got nothing like the spark that the first one had. Started off very good and promising and then all the characters lost interest half way through and didn’t even know what they were supposed to be doing. I laughed out loud about 3 times but some of the laughs were only because you couldn’t believe what you were watching it was so bad. They bought in Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, 2010) but I felt she didn’t really know herself even why she was there. It looked like she was at a bit of a loose end all the time. None of it was directed well which was a shame. I felt that Anna Kendrick was trying her best and to get everyone engaged but even she couldn’t save the film. American music acapella group Penatonix had a cameo in this film. They had to play representatives for the Canadian Team. For all the fans that liked this film then you will be pleased to know that there is going to be another Pitch Perfect film out in 2017. One film critic wrote about this film “Felt like it didn’t quite have the spark of freshness that made the first Pitch Perfect so much fun. Enjoyable, but not aca-mazing”.
