When watching this you can look at it as a fever dream fairy-tale. I was really impressed with the sound design. In so many ways it did remind me of the film Lady Macbeth (2016). I don’t want to give too much away but there is a scene near the beginning about the mask which for me was the scene I enjoyed the most and totally gripped me. In this story the one thing that Emily loves the most is the landscape. I thought that Emma Mackey was terrific. This may sound ridiculous but she did remind me of a very young Margot Robbie. This is Frances O’Connor’s directorial debut and I sure hope to see some more from her in the coming years. Apparently, Emily Beecham and Joe Alwyn were originally cast but both dropped out before filming began. The main theme in this is love and heartbreak. I do think that this is a story where everyone has got their own different views and opinions.
