STILLWATER

Review: A father travels from Oklahoma to Marseille in the hope of getting his daughter released from prison.
Director: Tom McCarthy
Actors: Matt Damon, Camille Cottin, Abigail Breslin, Deanna Dunagan, Anne Le Ny, Moussa Maaskri and William Nadylam
Year: 2021
Genre: Crime, Drama and Thriller
Conclusion: 3/5
This is from the same director who gave us Spotlight (2015). I very much enjoyed Matt Damon’s performance in Stillwater. I felt he didn’t really have much to say but you could see everything in all the emotions that he portrayed. I can’t think of a bad performance he has done or a really bad film. I think he is a brilliant and talented actor. I really enjoyed the musical soundtrack all the way through this film. This is a very long film standing in at 2hours 19mins. At the 74th Cannes Film festival where the film premiered (July 2021), Matt Damon and his team received a 5-minute standing ovation. This film didn’t get good reviews by film critics but I enjoyed it.
