I am not normally that keen on disaster movies like this but I have to say that this is really well done. I thought that the script was really well written. I don’t know which company did the visual effects but I was really impressed with them. I really liked it how the film just concentrated on the central family and that we didn’t have to worry about anyone else. I also felt that the characters were all real. The one thing I found quite scary and thought to myself for the first time that yes this could be a likely scenario that could happen to us all one day. The characters weren’t at all over the top and I felt it played out maybe exactly how we would all react in this scenario in real life. Watching this I had no idea what the ending was going to be like, unlike some disaster movies you watch. I found it to be really tense and gripping. Actor Chris Evans was attached to play the lead role with director Neill Blomkamp. They both dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. This is the best work I have seen Gerard Butler do in years.
