Rebecca

REBECCA

Review: After a whirlwind romance in the south of France with handsome widower Maxim de Winter, she arrives at Manderley at her husband’s imposing family estate on the English coast. She soon finds herself battling the shadow of his first wife, the elegant Rebecca whose legacy is being kept alive by the housekeeper Mrs. Danvers.

Year: 2020
Genre: Drama, Mystery, Romance and Thriller
Conclusion: 3/5
Adapted from Daphne du Maurier’s novel with the same title. I have to say that I know nothing of Rebecca or even the famous Alfred Hitchcock adaptation. I have never even read her novel so I can’t compare the novel to the film. I know some film critics have given this film a poor write up but I have to say that I was really surprised and enjoyed the whole film. I thought that Kristin Scott Thomas was perfect to play the character of Mrs.Danvers and actually found her to be really scary. Armie Hammer and Lily James were both perfectly cast. I enjoyed the music especially the soundtrack from Pentangle, which I also thought worked very well and just for the right scene it seemed to make perfect sense.
