A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Review: Based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and cynical journalist who has had a troubled personal life Lloyd Vogel.
Director: Marielle Heller
Actors: Tom Hanks, Matthew Rhys, Chris Cooper, Susan Kelechi Watson, Maryann Plunkett, Enrico Colantoni, Wendy Makkena, Tammy Blanchard, Noah Harpster, Carmen Cusack, Kelley Davis, Christine Lahti, Maddie Corman and Daniel Krell
Year: 2019
Genre: Biography and Drama
Conclusion: 4/5
Obviously in the UK, Fred Rogers is unknown to us and his name doesn’t really have much meaning. As well as Marielle Heller directing this film she has also directed the film Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018). As always Tom Hanks gives a good performance. The widow of Fred Rodgers, Joanne Rogers, has stated that Tom Hanks is the perfect actor to play her late husband. I also enjoyed Matthew Rhys’s performance. Both Matthew Rhys and Tom Hanks both starred together in The Post (2017). A very uplifting and touching film.
