LOVE WEDDING REPEAT

Review: On the day of Jack’s sister’s wedding it is his job to make sure everything goes according to plan. He finds himself having to deal with an angry ex-girlfriend, an uninvited guest with a secret, a misplaced sleep sedative and also the girl that got away in different versions of the same wedding.
Director: Dean Craig
Actors: Sam Claflin, Olivia Munn, Freida Pinto, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joel Fry, Jack Farthing, Tim Key, Allan Mustafa, Aisling Bea, Simonetta Solder, Stefano Patti and Giusi Merli
Year: 2020
Genre: Comedy and Romance
Conclusion: 2/5
Considering all the fantastic reviews and hype this film has had I was rather disappointed with it. I thought that Eleanor Tomlinson and Jack Farthing were fantastic and held the whole film together. Lovely to see them in a film together. They both played lead characters in Poldark (2015-2019). The first half of the film was much better than the second half. I felt that the script could have been worked on a lot more. I really didn’t like the rude jokes that were in it and could have been toned down a lot more. Some of it was very unpleasant. I do feel the only person who can make a really good romantic comedy and write a really good script is Richard Curtis. Although I have not heard of the 2012 French comedy Plan de Table, Love Wedding Repeat is apparently a remake of the French film. One film critic wrote about this film “It is like a glass of champagne that’s lost its fizz”.
