Conclusion: 4/5
Such a terrific film! Lovely to see a female taking on the role of directing and being so interested, plus this is her first solo attempt at directing and what a great start. I love the cast list but especially Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf. I can’t quite put my finger on it but there were times where it did remind me of Boyhood, 2014. Both Saoirse Ronan and Lucas Hedges appeared in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). At the Golden Globe Awards in 2018 this won 2 awards. They were for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and also Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Saoirse Ronan).
