The Circle

THE CIRCLE

Review: Mae lands a dream job at a powerful tech and social media company called the Circle. She uncovers an agenda that will affect the lives and future of her friends, family and that of all humanity.
Director: James Ponsoldt
Actors: Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Ellar Coltrane, Glenne Headly, Bill Paxton, Karen Gillan, Tom Hanks, Beck, Nate Corddry, Mamoudou Athie, Michael Shuman and Regina Saldivar
Year: 2017
Genre: Drama, Sci-Fi and Thriller
Conclusion: 2/5
A film that went straight onto Netflix and was not screened in the cinema. Not the most riveting of films starring Emma Watson. Apparently re-shoots took place four months before release. This was to make Emma Watson’s character more appealing. I am really surprised that the likes of John Boyega and Tom Hanks agreed to star in this film. I love all of Tom Hank’s films and felt it was a shame he humiliated himself doing this. It is a film that never got its momentum going. I was completely bored and none of the characters were engaging. I felt that the scriptwriters themselves couldn’t even be bothered to make the script interesting.
