I loved this film! This is the film that opened the London Film Festival in 2019. Everything about this film is delightful. The one thing that made it so enjoyable was the brilliant script which was written with lots of humour. I really enjoyed the Victorian period costuming. The cast were all fantastic. Always a pleasure to see Dev Patel and Hugh Laurie. Tilda Swinton gives a fantastic performance. It was great to see Ruby Bentall back on screen since Poldark (2015-2018). I could go on and name each actor but they all did an equal amount and were all outstanding in their roles. This for obvious reasons did remind me of The Death of Stalin (2017) although David Copperfield is a much lighter story. Just some of the themes that occur in this story is wealth and class, equality in marriage, the search for true happiness and good vs evil.
