Conclusion: 4/5
I really enjoyed this film. It is a film made for Margot Robbie, she is just so fantastic in this. Even though Margot Robbie learnt how to skate, when it came to the triple axle this was accomplished by visual effects. Margot got to meet the real Tonya Harding before shooting on the film. Allison Janney’s performance was quite incredible plus she only had eight filming days and her performance was all complete. One film that this did remind me of was Bernie (2011) especially with the intertwining of the interviews every now and again with the real actors. This also reminded me of the film Blades of Glory (2007). Steven Rogers has done an amazing job writing the script. As well as this being about skating it is also a film about domestic abuse/violence. I found this film entertaining from start to finish. At the Academy Awards in 2018 this won one Oscar and that was for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Allison Janney). At the Golden Globe Awards in 2018 this won one award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Allison Janney). At the Bafta Awards in 2018 this won one award and that was for Best Supporting Actress (Allison Janney).
