Year: 2017
Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi and Western
Conclusion: 3/5
Based on a book by Stephen King. Apparently this film has been an ongoing project for quite a few years and has had  directors in like J.J. Abrams (2007-2009) and Ron Howard (2010-2015). All the directors left the project to go on to other films. As hard as it must have been, I do think that Nikolaj Arcel has done a reasonable job of directing this as he must have come in half way through the project. This director last worked on the amazing A Royal Affair, 2012. Both Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey do their best to bring the film alive and put so much effort into their performances. Without them the film wouldn’t be half as good. The film has also been delayed twice in the last few months. Watching the trailer for this I was a little bit disappointed with the film. I do think that the film critics are a bit too harsh with the reviews that they have given this. It passed the time quite happily on a rainy afternoon. Just some of the themes that occur in this are good and evil, technology vs nature and community.
