A Walk in the Woods

A WALK IN THE WOODS
A Walk in the Woods
Review: This is about a travel writer Bill Bryson who challenges himself to hike the Appalachian Trail with his long lost and former friend Katz.
Director: Ken Kwapis
Actors: Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson
Year: 2015
Genre: Adventure, Biography, Comedy and Drama
Conclusion: 3/5
I have to say that I watched this film in a full auditorium where everyone was laughing all the way through. I did laugh but not as many times as I thought I would. Robert Redford originally wanted to act along side Paul Newman. This just shows how long Robert Redford has wanted to do this film. Director Richard Linklater was previously attached to direct. It would have been very interesting to see his version of the film. It could have been so much more interesting. I do not know anything about Bill Bryson and have not read any of his books so I cannot make any judgement. This film is worth watching for the scenery. The themes for this film are; the difference between two quite separate worlds: the civilized world of home and the wild world of the untamed wilderness. The other theme that is in evidence all the way through is the importance of friendship.
