Just before watching this film I watched a very good documentary on this film on ‘The Culture Show’. I thought it was a very good introduction to the film. Having watched the documentary this got me ready for the film. What makes this film are the two lead actors. They carry the film all the way through. When this film was originally released in the cinemas it was only meant to be playing in 5 screens across the U.K. but due to high demand it got released in over 160 screens. The music in this is a delight to listen to from start to finish. A very enjoyable charming film. It really felt like it was filmed in the 1970’s. It was great to see people dressed up in their 1970’s outfits. I particularly enjoyed the main dance scene with everyone in the hall!!!
