FORREST GUMP
Forrest Gump
Review: This is a true story about a man named Forrest Gump who has a low level of intelligence but accidentally finds himself present at key moments in history. One thing that Forrest never forgets is the love he has for Jenny Curran.
Director: Robert Zemeckis
Actors: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise and Sally Field
Year: 1994
Genre: Drama and Romance
Conclusion: 4/5
One of the most famous quotes from Forrest Gump is “My mama always said , ‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”. Tom Hank’s puts everything into this role and is the only actor who could have played the character. Both Bill Murray and John Travolta were offered the part to play Forrest Gump but turned it down. Demi Moore and Nicole Kidman also both turned down their part that they were offered. Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise have appeared in 3 films together. The other two are The Green Mile and Apollo 13. Such a magical and breathtaking film. At the Oscar Awards in 1995 this won 6 Academy Awards. They were for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Tom Hanks), Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Effects, Visual Effects, Best Film Editing and for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published. At the Golden Globe Awards also in 1995 this won three awards and they were for Best Director – Motion Picture (Robert Zemeckis), Best Motion Picture – Drama, and also Best Performance by an Actor – Motion Picture – Drama (Tom Hanks). It won one award at the Bafta’s and that was for Best Special Effects. This is a totally unique and original film which cannot be compared to any other film.
