Conclusion: 3/5
This is where we see Lily James transformed from her role as Lady Rose in Downton Abbey to Cinderella. This is the perfect role for her. She did a fantastic job. I don’t know anyone else who could have performed as well as she did. If I had to choose someone else though to play the part I would go for Amanda Seyfried. There are so many unforgettable scenes. I loved the costumes and think that the people involved all went to a lot of effort getting it right. Great performances. At the start of the film there is a short film sequel to Frozen which I didn’t quite understand. I don’t really know why they put it in. The only criticism is that the story has been slightly changed on a few levels. This is a remake of a Cinderella from the 1950’s cartoon. This project was first announced way back in 2010. During the ballroom dance scene many of the dresses are of various Disney princesses e.g. Mulan and Snow White. Emma Watson was in talks for the title character but a deal could not be worked out with Disney.
