MOONRISE KINGDOM
Moonrise Kingdom
Review: This story is set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965. Two twelve year olds fall in love and decide to run away together. This causes a local search party to go out and find them.
Director: Wes Anderson
Actors: Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Bill Murray
Year: 2012
Genre: Adventure, Comedy and Drama
Conclusion: 4/5
Brilliant film. I enjoyed Tilda Swinton’s character. I thought it was the right role for her. Great performances by Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward who play the young lovers. You felt engaged with all of the characters. Reminded me a lot of the film Son of Rambow in which it is based around children. Bruce Willis was very charming in this. It just shows what a good actor he can be when he wants to be. This is the first Wes Anderson film without any involvement of Owen Wilson and this is Wes Anderson’s sixth collaboration with Bill Murray. One film critic wrote about this film ‘At it’s heart, Moonrise Kingdom is a sweet and surprising love story with a healthy twist of typically warped humour’.
