Groundhog Day

GROUNDHOG DAY

Review: A TV weatherman named Phil keeps waking up every morning with a strange sense of deja vu. He finds himself living the same day February 2nd 1992 over and over again.
Director: Harold Ramis
Actors: Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell
Year: 1993
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy and Romance
Conclusion: 4/5
The best film I have seen Bill Murray in. This film is such a timeless classic. David O’Russell spoke up about this film in an interview recently and said ‘It’s his greatest role. His cynicism and eventually his sincerity feel so real because he comes by them so honestly. He proves that if you feel it from the feet up, there are no cliches.’ Directors have tried many times trying to replicate this film but it has just been impossible. The last similar film to this would be 2013’s About Time. At the Bafta Awards in 1994 it won Best Screenplay – Original. This is on Barry Norman’s list of 100 Greatest Films of all time that he produced at the start of 2012 in the Radio Times.
