Bringing Up Baby

BRINGING UP BABY

Review: A paleontologist is pursued by an infuriating heiress and her pet leopard named “Baby”.
Director: Howard Hawks
Actors: Cary Grant, Charles Ruggles and Katharine Hepburn
Year: 1938
Genre: Comedy, Romance and Classics
Conclusion: 5/5
One of the greatest comedies ever. It will have you in stitches all the way through. Several scenes in this were cut but the details are not available. When Katharine Hepburn arrived at the studios she had to be taught what to do unlike Cary Grant. He already came prepared. Cary Grant was not fond of the leopard that was used. When this film came out it was regarded as a complete flop. This is on Barry Norman’s list of 100 Greatest Films of all time that he produced at the start of 2012. One film critic wrote about this film “One of the highest high points of the entire comedy genre, with its sharp script and wonderfully balanced leads”.
