Conclusion: 4/5
I really enjoyed this film. It was much more lightweight and daft than I thought it was going to be. I don’t think it needed to be as long as it was standing in at 2h 36m. It would be a much better film if at least half an hour was edited out. Both directors worked on The Lego Movie (2014). This film reminded me most of Silent Running (1972). Fantastic performances from Ryan Gosling and Sandra Huller. Adapted from Andy Weir’s novel of the same name. This is the second film adaptation by the same author followed by The Martian (2015). Just some of the themes include memory, identity and survival.
