Based on a novel which sold 12 million by Delia Owens. I have to admit that I have not read the novel myself. Watching this I did feel that it is a film struggling to be adapted from a novel. It also reminded me a lot of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962). I personally didn’t believe in the whole story. I also didn’t care much about any of the characters. It might just be me but I found both of the actors very similar in looks and kept on getting confused. I also wanted the film to be much darker and felt I didn’t get the full atmosphere. This film is co-written and produced by Reese Witherspoon under the hello sunshine Banner company. Great performances by the three main actors Harris Dickinson, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Taylor John Smith. At the end I found it to be a pleasing little film although I wanted more of the marsh.
