JERSEY BOYS

Review: The story of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Director: Clint Eastwood
Actors: John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, Vincent Piazza, Steve Schirripa, Christopher Walken, Kathrine Narducci, Lou Volpe, Johnny Cannizzaro, Michael Patrick McGill, Jacqueline Mazarella, Lacey Hannan, Scott Vance, Steve Rankin, Ivar Brogger, Annika Noelle and Annie O’Donnell
Year: 2014
Genre: Biography, Drama and Musical
Conclusion: 3/5
This is adapted from the stage show with the same title. I did find it a problem being adapted from the stage show as I found it too stagey. Instead of using Hollywood actors for the main cast, Clint Eastwood cast mainly stage actors who had played the role every night on-stage. I wanted more of the songs. The songs to me didn’t amount to anything. I wanted to be enlivened and really get into the spirit of the songs. I have to say that I wasn’t engaged at all with this film. I found it far too long. There are some good performances from the cast. A film that could be better made but just passes the mark to be a three out of five.
