Ticket to Paradise

Review: A divorced couple make a trip to Bali to try and sabotage their daughter’s wedding and to stop them from making the same mistake they themselves thought they had made 25 years ago.
Director: Ol Parker
Actors: George Clooney, Sean Lynch, Julia Roberts, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, Ling Cooper Tang, Billie Lourd, Kaitlyn Dever, Maxime Bouttier, Francis McMahon, Romy Poulier, Lucas Bravo, Dorian Djoudi and Cintya Dharmayanti
Year: 2022
Genre: Comedy and Romance
Conclusion: 3/5
Directed by Ol Parker who did the fantastic film Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! (2018). Even though this is set in Bali, Indonesia, the film was actually filmed in Queensland, Australia. Lovely to see George Clooney and Julia Roberts back on our screens. They have both appeared together in several films. Most famously Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Ocean’s Twelve (2004). George Clooney has only ever done one romantic comedy before and that was One Fine Day (1996), after he said he would never do any more rom-coms, and that he’d only do dramas, mostly with a social message. It is a very predictable film. After watching this I just wished that there were more films made like this. It was really cheesy but very fun at the same time. For me anyway it passed the six-laugh test. I almost felt though that they only just managed to get away with this film. If it wasn’t for the two great lead actors, they really couldn’t have made this film what it is. How I have missed them over the years. Just seeing their smiles make you feel warm and happy!
