I have to admit that I personally didn’t enjoy this film especially as much as I was looking forward to it. I thought it was really disappointing. Persuasion is one of my favourite Jane Austen novels but in this I actually didn’t care about any of the characters unlike some other adaptations I have watched. I think that the way that the film was portrayed meant that I never felt anything for the main two actors. I didn’t care whether they got together or not. Great cast list. What I did enjoy was seeing the period costumes. I am aware that some of the public do like the actors talking to the camera (as in Fleabag, although I never watched it) but for me I don’t like it. I think for this film it just didn’t work. Maybe this would have worked if it wasn’t the Jane Austen novel. A film that looks beautiful.
