A screen adaptation of Erica Schmidt’s 2019 stage play. The original play of Cyrano de Bergerac introduced the word Panache into the English language which means flamboyant confidence of style or manner “he entertained London society with great panache”. Superbly played by Peter Dinklage. I have to say that I love his voice. He is the best thing in this film by far. I have to say that I did get a shock when the film started as I didn’t realize that it was a musical although I can’t remember a single tune or song. This is a classic fairy-tale love story. There have been many Cyrano de Bergerac film adaptations over the years and this is a story which keeps getting retold and in many different versions. The themes in this film are acceptance, longing and love.
