DREAM HORSE

Review: An inspiring true story of Dream Alliance, an unlikely race horse bred by a Welsh bartender Jan Vokes. She has no experience and very little money. She convinces her neighbours to help with whatever earnings they have to help raise Dream and also help compete with the racing elites. Dream rises through the ranks and becomes a beacon of hope for their community.

Apparently, about five years ago there was a documentary about the whole story of this. I found the film to be very predictable. I did find that it was far too long for what it actually needed to be. I looked at my watch and only an hour had gone by and couldn’t believe there was another hour to go. It did lose its place half way through and didn’t really know what direction then to take. I also thought that the script could have been better written. It would have worked better as a little mini tv series. Sir Anthony Hopkins was approached to play a role but turned it down due to his busy schedule at the time. What I can say is that there was very good and strong performances from both Toni Collette and Damian Lewis.
