Before watching this I had no idea what the film was about, what the plot synopsis was or even what genre it was. All I knew was that it was going to be a good film. All the films I have watched staring David Oyelowo I have really enjoyed. This is his first full length feature film that he has directed. He is such a wonderful actor. I liked it how all the other actors were fairly unknown. I thought that Lonnie Chavis was superb. There is a scene in this where one of the characters is shoplifting. I did think that this would be bought up again later on in the film; however, it was not mentioned. I did think it was going to be the theme and be used more. It did remind me of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) film. The main theme in this is hope, but also how hope can lead to loss, grief and also friendship. I found this to be a really tense and gripping film. I never once got bored or looked at the time. You can find this film on Netflix and I would highly recommend it.
