This is based on a novel by American writer Dennis Lehane. In some ways I felt that this was a rather silly film because to me it made no sense at all. Having said that, I have to say that I really enjoyed it. As usual Leonardo DiCaprio gives a fantastic performance. Always a joy to see Mark Ruffalo. Mark got the part for this film after sending a fan letter to Martin Scorsese to say how much he wanted to work with him. I always enjoy Martin Scorsese’s films. This is the fourth time that Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have worked together on a film together.
