SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Review: Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.
Director: Ron Howard

Year: 2018
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy and Sci-Fi
Conclusion: 3/5
Considering the first directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had to both be dismissed because of creative differences this was then taken over by Ron Howard. I think that he has done a fantastic job of picking up the pieces and carrying on as it mustn’t have been an easy job to come on board with. It is reported that Ron Howard re-shot more than 80% of the movie. This is the second installment in the Star Wars anthology series. It was great to see Paul Bettany and I found that once on the screen he bought the whole film back to life. There is something comforting about seeing him on screens. He has more to do in this film than Avengers: Infinity War (2018). This is the third time that Ron Howard and Paul Bettany have worked together. The other two films are A Beautiful Mind (2001) and The Da Vinci Code (2006). Fantastic to see Alden Ehrenreich get work and in such a different role from Hail, Ceasar! (2016). To me he is the perfect one to play the part of the young Han Solo. There was nothing wrong with the film but there weren’t really any scenes that grabbed me or that I have thought about since.
