This is one of the fastest-moving adventure films ever made. This is the film that made Sandra Bullock a major star in her own right. To prepare for this film she actually learnt to drive a bus. She passed on her first attempt. This is also one of Keanu Reeves’ finest performances. There is so much chemistry between them both. To prepare for their roles Keanu Reeves and Jeff Daniels trained with real S.W.A.T. personnel, to perfect their movements. In the whole 1 hour 56 minutes the excitement never lets up. It is a film that you can sit down to and watch now and stands the test of time. As well as it being well directed by Jan de Bont the script is also well written with some very comedic lines. Apparently Quentin Tarrantino was offered the opportunity to direct this film. If this was the case what a different film we could have had. Various actors were offered the role of Jack but turned it down. Just to name a few they were Jeff Bridges, Kurt Russell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Michael Keaton, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Nicolas Cage, John Travolta, Mel Gibson, and Harrison Ford. Halle Berry turned down the role of Annie. Ten busses were used during the making of this film. It was filmed on-location on Los Angeles’ I-105 freeway, before it was opened to the public. At the Academy Awards in 1995 this won two Oscars. They were for Best Sound and Best Effects, Sound Effects Editing. At the Bafta Awards in 1995 this won two awards. They were for Best Editing and for Best Sound.
