RICKI AND THE FLASH
Review: Ricki is a musician and gives up everything to be a rock-and-roll stardom. She decides to return home when her daughter’s marriage breaks down leaving her depressed and tries to make things right with her family.
Director: Jonathan Demme
Actors: Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and Mamie Gummer
Year: 2015
Genre: Comedy, Drama and Music
Conclusion: 4/5
You can see the love and chemistry between Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer. It comes across really strong although Mamie Gummer is Meryl Streep’s real life daughter. The script is very well handled and well judged with lots of warmth and wit written into it. The characters are very well drawn in and each have an equal part to play. There isn’t one that is side-lined. When you see the band play they seem so real. It doesn’t feel staged at all. Well directed by Jonathan Demme. You can’t go wrong with a film when Meryl Streep is the central character.
