Once
Review:  A modern day musical about two people who meet on the streets of Dublin. A busker and an immigrant. They write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story.
Director: John Carney
Actors: Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova and Hugh Walsh
Year: 2007
Genre: Drama, Musical and Romance
Conclusion: 4/5
A lovely delight of a film from start to finish. Very charming and emotionally engaging. A very cheap film to make. You believed in their characters and what they are going through. You also got the feeling watching it that the cast all enjoyed working on this film. Incredibly natural performances from the two central characters. Cillian Murphy was asked to be the lead role but turned it down. At the Academy Awards in 2008 this won one Oscar and that was for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song (For the song “Falling Slowly”.) Steven Spielberg was a huge fan of this film and said that “A little movie called Once gave me enough inspiration to last the rest of the year”.
