The Lady in the Van

The Lady in the Van
Review: Based on a true story of the relationship between Alan Bennett and Miss Shepherd. Alan Bennett let her ‘temporarily’ park her van on his driveway and she lived there for 15 years.
Director: Nicholas Hytner
Actors: Alex Jennings, Maggie Smith, Dominic Cooper, James Corden, Jim Broadbent, Frances de la Tour and Russell Tovey
Year: 2015
Genre: Biography and Drama
Conclusion: 4/5
Alan Bennnett wrote about this in his memoir. It then went on to be a stage production. Wonderfully entertaining. This will have you laughing at crying all at the same time. A very funny witty film. Maggie Smith is wonderfully cast as Miss Shepherd. You didn’t feel like the actor who was playing Alan Bennett was an actor. You just thought it was Alan Bennett he was so good. This is a good warm hearted film. I would not recommend watching the trailer for this as I don’t think it does the film justice. I just hope that Maggie Smith gets at least an Oscar/Bafta Nomination for her performance. I did feel though after watching this that I needed to go home and have a proper wash and then settle down to a piece of my favorite cake which is Battenberg!
