My Summer of Love

My Summer of Love
Review: Set in the Yorkshire countryside, two 16-year olds spend a long, hot summer together. Mona is a working-class tomboy while Tamsin is very exotic and pampered. As the summer comes to an end it becomes clear that their passion will take a different and darker path.
Director: Pawel Pawlikowski
Actors: Natalie Press, Emily Blunt and Paddy Considine
Year: 2004
Genre: Drama and Romance
Conclusion: 3/5
Extraordinary performances from Emily Blunt and Natalie Press. I found that they didn’t really have much to work on. Paddy Considine’s part in this is characteristically dangerous but manages to get it right. This film is inspired by a novel by Helen Cross. One film critic pointed out in an article about this film that both of the girls are different. One deals with irony and deception, and with the other what you see is what you get, whether you want it or not. At the Bafta Awards in 2005 this won one award and that was for the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film.
