This is a film that will make you laugh out loud. A sequel to this film was in talks for several years but then was sealed by Robin Williams’ death in 2014. Based on a book by Anne Fine. According to the BBFC Website this was originally passed as a 12 Certificate in 1993 for the cinema release, however the distributors decided to cut out the fruity innuendo for a PG rated cinema release. Apparently 13 seconds have been cut from this film of Mrs.Doubtfire’s dialogue. At the Academy Awards in 1994 this won one Oscar and that was for Best Makeup. At the Golden Globe Awards the same year it won 2 Awards and they were for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical (Robin Williams) and also Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical. One film critic wrote “Williams, who is also a good actor, seems more to be playing himself playing a woman”.
