LETTERS TO JULIET
Review: Sophie travels to Verona, Italy and dreams of becoming a writer. While she is there she meets the “Secretaries of Juliet”.
Director: Gary Winick
Actors: Gael Garcia Bernal, Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Redgrave
Year: 2010
Genre: Comedy, Drama and Romance
Conclusion: 2/5
A film that never really seems to take off from the ground. Very slow moving. Not much meat in this film. I didn’t think much of Gael Garcia Bernal’s acting and thought that he was miscast. Juliet’s secretaries actually do really exist. Juliet’s courtyard in Verona was closed to the public specially for the film unit. This was the first time this had ever happened. This film was inspired by a 2006 non-fiction book named “Letters to Juliet”. Vanessa Redgrave has an amazing presence in this. It is a very charming film. Good solid performance from Amanda Seyfried.
