THE BABADOOK

Review: Amelia is a widowed mother who lives with her son Samuel. A storybook named ‘The Babadook’ appears in their house. They start to get terrorized by one of the characters who comes to life from the children’s book.
Director: Jennifer Kent
Actors: Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman and Daniel Henshall
Year: 2014
Genre: Drama, Horror and Thriller
Conclusion: 4/5
This is more of a psychological film than anything. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be. It certainly didn’t make me sweat. I would not be surprised if the book was out on shelves in shops any day now. You actually believed Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman. They were both so real. One thing I did enjoy with this film was that it wasn’t actually that long plus there was no time to get bored. Both Essie Davis and Jennifer Kent attended drama school together. This has elements in it of the film ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ as they both feature troubled sons. One of the best and original horror movies in years.
