This is the first Disney animated film that took people by storm. Rupert Everett auditioned for the role of Gaston but the directors told him he didn’t sound arrogant enough. Patrick Stewart was offered a part but had to turn it down due to him working on another project. John Cleese was also offered a part in this film but turned it down. The art directors working on this film went to the Loire Valley to get some inspiration. At the Academy Awards in 1992 it won 2 Oscars and they were for Best Music,Original Song and also Best Music, Original Score. At the Golden Globe Awards also in 1992 it won 3 awards and they were for Best Original Score – Motion Picture, Best Original Song – Motion Picture and for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical.
