Conclusion: 4/5
Kingsman: the Secret Service is based on the comic book “The Secret Service” by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. The young man that Harry Hart takes under his wing, a working class Londoner called Eggsy, is played by newcomer, Taaron Egerton. Apparently Matthew Vaughn cast Egerton because he ‘had a like-ability about him which was so unique’. His story and performance certainly brings the movie to life and it is very likely that we will see a lot more of him in the future. Kingsman is all about adventure, gadgets and weapons and features a lot of very violent combat. In fact it is very much in the James Bond genre and audiences will enjoy looking out for the many clever references to the Bond franchise. Samuel L.Jackson has great fun playing a sort of comic strip version of a Bond villain. This movie features stunning visual effects and a fantastic soundtrack which brings all the action scenes to life. Kingsman is full of heart-stopping action, but it is also packed with funny moments where you find yourself laughing out loud. The direction from Matthew Vaughn is ‘First Class’! This must be his best film so far. Kingsman seems ready-made for a sequel and could well be in line for some Bafta / Oscar Awards or at least nominations. This is a must see film!!
