This is Ridley Scott’s masterpiece and has influenced hundreds of films. It also ranks as one of the finest sci-fi films ever made. At the Bafta Awards in 1983 it won Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design/Art Direction. Ridley Scott’s first cut ran for four hours.Conflicts on the set of this film arose almost immediately upon starting. This was mainly due to Ridley Scott not being happy with lighting with some of the scenes and wanting to start again. Other titles that were considered for this film were ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, ‘Android’, ‘Mechanismo’ and Dangerous Days’. One film critic wrote about this film “It’s an overwhelming, immersive experience, a total creation of a possible future so complete that you don’t need exposition to know how we got from here to there (2019)”. This is on Barry Norman’s list of 100 Greatest Films of all time that he produced at the start of 2012. This is regarded as a cult classic.
