Amazing film!! When it came out at the cinema it was a complete flop. No one wanted to see it but it is now regarded as one of the most popular movies ever made and became one of the highest grossing rentals of all time. Based on a book by Stephen King. Kevin Costner was considered for the role as Andy but turned it down.To me it is a film I can watch over and over again and never get bored of it. If you watch this film closely there are quite a few religious meanings in it. This is on Barry Norman’s list of 100 Greatest Films of all time that he produced at the start of 2012 in the Radio Times. A film critic wrote about this film that it can give you hope, you can go on and you can go forwards.
