Moulin Rouge!

MOULIN ROUGE!

Review: Christian who is a poet goes and leaves his father for a fortune in Paris. He meets and falls tragically in love with the courtesan Satine.
Director: Baz Luhrmann
Actors: Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman
Year: 2001
Genre: Drama, Musical and Romance
Conclusion: 5/5
Excellent film!! One to watch!! I would like to see Ewan McGregor do some more lead roles like this. I think he would be a much better actor. This film is loosely based on the opera Orpheus in the Underworld. The necklace that Nicole wears is made of real diamonds. The song “Come What May” was for Romeo and Juliet  but was not used. At the Oscars in 2002 it won Best Art-Direction-Set Decoration and also Best Costume Design. At the Bafta Awards Jim Broadbent won Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role and the film won an award for Best Sound. Won 3 Golden Globes. Best Motion Picture, Best Original Score and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. This is on Barry Norman’s list of 100 Greatest Films of all time that he produced at the start of 2012 in the Radio Times.
