The Iron Lady

THE IRON LADY

Review: The life of Margaret Thatcher who has been the only female Prime Minister of the U.K.
Director: Phyllida Lloyd
Actors: Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent and Richard E.Grant
Year: 2011
Genre: Biography, Drama and History
Conclusion: 4/5
Enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. Meryl’s performance is excellent. I am so glad she got an Oscar in 2012 for her performance. The other Oscar that this got was for Best Achievement in Makeup. Both of these categories also got a Bafta. Meryl Streep also got a Golden Globe Award for her performance. I think it is sad that we haven’t got an English Actress who can do that role. It would be interesting to see how true the film is. Very brave to put her daughter in and to mention her son. I thought there would be more politics involved and more clips of them being in the House of Commons. I am surprised that they have done this film at this time. To prepare for this film Meryl Streep sat for months and months watching broadcasts so she could learn mannerisms and learn the speech of Margaret Thatcher.
