Martha Marcy May Marlene

Review: A young lady runs away from an abusive cult. She goes to her sisters house but finds it hard to settle down. Her past keeps coming back to haunt her.
Director: Sean Durkin
Actors: Christopher Abbott, John Hawkes and Elizabeth Olsen
Year: 2011
Genre: Drama, Mystery and Suspense
Conclusion: 3/5
Very good but just a bit depressing. Not a lot really happens in it. The title of the film is very hard to remember and to say. It is a bit of a handful and hard to remember which way round the words go. Sean Durkin has done a great job directing this film. One film critic wrote “It’s acted and directed like a sensitive drama, rather than a scary movie, and is all the scarier for it”.
