From Up On Poppy Hill

FROM UP ON POPPY HILL

Review: Set in Yokohama, Japan 1963. It is just after World War II. A group of teenagers get together to try and save their school’s clubhouse from demolition.
Director: Goro Miyazaki
Actors: Sarah Bolger, Anton Yelchin and Christina Hendricks
Year: 2011
Genre: Animation, Drama, Family, Art House and International
Conclusion: 5/5
The best film I have seen this year. Absolutely Amazing. This is not a criticism but the only thing I would say is that when you watch the trailer for this it is in English. It wasn’t until I went to the cinema to see this that I found out that you have to read subtitles. It is not a problem for me as I like reading subtitles but just be aware. The music in this was very effective. It was all very well put together. They started work on this film in 2011 but because of the blackouts from the earthquake that year the production was affected. You didn’t loose concentration at all for one minute. The animation in this is very colorful. It is a film that will have you in tears so make sure you bring lots of tissues. Some of the scenes are very moving and touching. I would go and tell everyone to go and see this film I enjoyed it so much.
