A genuine masterpiece. When this film was first released it was initially a box office bomb, it didn’t start recouping some of its costs until its 1945 re-release. I found the film to be thoroughly entertaining and also very moving. An adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s novel. Apparently, Figaro was Walt Disney’s favourite character. A film that both children and adults can still enjoy in this present day. This has themes in of moral identity, the importance of truth and also the consequences of one’s choices. At the Academy Awards in 1941 this won 2 Oscar Awards. They were for Best Music, Original Song and Best Music, Original Score.
