This is Kate Winslet’s directorial debut. Based on a script by Joe Anders who is the son of Kate Winslet. This film is based on the loss of his own grandmother. Fantastic cast list with the likes of Timothy Spall, Helen Mirren and Johnny Flynn. Johnny Flynn in my eyes can do no wrong. I thought that Johnny Flynn captured the character’s vulnerability very well. I felt I could understand what was going on and understood from his point of view. With its subject matter I did not find it an easy watch but there was some slight humour added in. Even from the title you know what sort of film it is going to be. The main theme in this is grief and loss but others that are present are reconciliation, hope, optimism and the importance of family.
